Birth of Sree Narayana guru
The birth place of Sree Narayana guru is Chempazhanthy. A village about 12 km North of Tiruvananthapuram in Kerala. Guru was born on the 20th of August 1856 (Malayalam month Chingam 1032). His star was Chathayam. His Father Maadanasan, Mother Kuttiyamma was a kind hearted pious women. His Father Maadanasan was a farmer and the village schoolmaster they all belong in a middle class ezhava family. Guru born in the third day of the onam festival of 1955(1031) August 28.Krishnan Vaidyar gurus meternal uncle was a phisition and astrologer predicted that “This boy would change the course of the history”.
Now a days we can see the birth place of Guru is known as Vayalvaram house, we can see it at Chempazhanthy.The Name of child was Narayana and was fondly called Nanu. After 3 daughters a son was born to Maadanasan and Kuttiyamma being the only male child of the family. Nanu was the focus of interest for the family.They nursed lavished affection and great hopes on Nanu. Nanu grew up like a normal childwith the natuyral mischievous tendencies of an intelligent child.The jokes he played indicated the future of iconoclast and the rationalist.In that period the untouchability was main problem.As a child Nanu didn’t care it he used to minkle freely with the untouchable people worked in their farms and threatened to touch the elders with his polluted hands.
One day Nanu happened to pass near an untouchable’s house.He saw that the rice gruel being cookeed on the earth was about to spill out he think that if the rice spilled over the poor family would have to go without food for that day he went in the hut and removed the pot from the fire and thus saved the food for that family.
The elders fond fault with him for doing tha.But Nanu didn’t find any thing wrong in being kind and helpful. In Nanu’s family,they believed in god and workship them everyday.one day Nanu get into the room and consume the sweets and plantains offered to the family diet before it was pronounced blessed.If his mother tried to chastise him about this,Nanu says that anyway it was intended to be eaten so what did it matter if he ate first?. The goddess would be pleased moreover if the children were happy.
